Retail Awesomeness!

Saturday Josh and I went to Ikea. It was my very first trip there and it was crazy. He had to explain how everything worked and why there were two floors and why people had bags but he told me there wasn't anything to buy upstairs, etc. It was entertaining. He humored me and we walked through the whole upstairs (showroom) and then we went down to the buying area and got.. curtians! Josh hasn't had curtians in his home since he moved in. :) We got curtians and rods and it was VERY exciting.

We ended up going back on Sunday because a couple of the rods weren't right (we may or may not have forgotten to take our measurements) and just exchanged them and did not adventure upstairs.

After Ikea, we stopped at Lowe's to get a hack saw (the rods needed a couple inches taken off) and.. a new hanging lamp! Josh broke the old one when he swung a golf club inside. :P After he broke the fixture off of it, we began calling it the naked light and Josh wouldn't let anyone turn it on. But now, no more naked light! There's a beautiful hanging lamp with a leaf vine and decoration.

We're trying to make up a list of little things we want for the house and budget money each month to buy them. We might get a tall cafe like table in March. It must be big enough for our scrabble board. :)

We're doing like pregnant women, nesting. :) I think we're just eager to live together and start married life. The whole wedding is just a bonus.

Yesterday, I went shopping. I don't go shopping much but when I do, I try to do it right. :)

Here were my shopping goals:
1. New black dress for concert band and general fun
2. Underwear.
3. Socks
4. Earrings to match new dress (if I got one)

I went to 4 different stores looking for an all black dress. One woman told me she wasn't sure if she's ever seen an all black dress. What? Seriously? I ended up finding one that has a cool circle neck with some jewels around it. Not as inexpensive as I would like, but plenty cute. :)

After the dress purchase, I headed to JCPenny, an all time favorite of mine. :) Secured a new pair of earrings (25% off!), went and rifled through the socks (not on sale..) and (!) then went to peruse the undies and found bins of underwear that were $1.99 a pair!! This is a huge deal. Usually undies are anywhere from $3.50 to $7.50 a pair. I got 10 pairs. :) In the end, I saved almost twice as much as I spent AND I had a gift card, so I used it AND still had money left over.

Good day.

Our First Post!

Josh and I decided to start a blog because we thought it would be 1. Entertaining (for you and us), 2. A good way to keep up with people we don't see very often, and 3. Entertaining.

We make no promises that we'll be any good at it, but we'll give it a try. :)

Things are going well here in Ann Arbor.

Josh is still working with Michigan Aerospace and is currently building a gigantic boat. If you get a chance, you should ask him about it and ask to see pictures! It's pretty amazing. Josh is really good with his hands and I think that God is really going to use his construction and creation gifts in a mighty way in the future. Josh is leading a D-Group (short for discipleship) for New Life Church and is itching for bike riding season to return.

I finished my Master of Social Work (yes, I mastered social work) in December and have been working part time for a family in the Ann Arbor area. :) Their daughter, Ella, is amazing and a joy to spend time with. I'm still busy as ever, involved with the Ypsilanti Community Band, New Life Church, Doulas Care, and whatever else happens to pass my way.

Wedding things.. are going well. There are only 103 days to go! C'mon May 30th!! We have a wedding website, but we haven't used it much. :) You should be able to track it down in the links.

We have a lot finished, but it seems like we have a lot more to go! Just when I think I have a handle on things, someone will ask me a question like, "So, if a bridesmaid wears her hair up, can she still wear dangly earrings?" and I add that question to my internal post-it note that has a billion other unanswered questions.

I don't know if this is true for Josh, but for me, something that has been pretty neat through the whole planning process is getting to hear the story (good and bad!) from other women in regards to their wedding and their wedding planning period. I've gotten advice on topics such as, shoes, where and where not to let a video person video, and tips on ways to actually get to eat the food served at the wedding (unzip your dress a little, never sit with a plate always stand (that way no one can take it from you), wear an apron, ask someone to feed it to you, hide food in the bathroom, and be fierce about it).

We're hoping to get a few more wedding things done this week. We need to do all the registry stuff, figure out musicians, etc.

Okay. Josh and I are going to make some fruit salad. Ooh! Quick story.

Sunday, Josh and I went to the Urgent Care Center in Ann Arbor because I had been sick for a week (lung infection.. long story but not deadly. :)). While we were waiting our turn (patiently) we were looking through mags like Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, etc. and we came across a really neat recipe for these popcorn peanut butter squares. We took a couple pictures of the recipe and after we filled my prescriptions, we went to Kroger and gathered the supplies we needed.

Here's the recipe we used! (Actually, we doubled this.)
1/2 C Honey
2/3 C Peanut butter
1 C Peanuts, coarsely chopped
1 C Granola (with the big chunks broken up)
3 C Popped Popcorn
*We also added 1 C butter scotch chips (Add these last or they will melt!)

1. Line a cookie pan with foil or paper
2. Bring honey to a boil
3. Add PB and mix till all melty and delicious
4. Mix in peanut butter
5. Mix in granola and pop corn
6. When everything is covered, arrange/flatten in cookie pan
7. Refrigerate for at least 30minutes
8. Cut into squares and eat!! :)

They were a big hit today. Cheaper and healthier than the store bought cookies Josh seems to crave right around 12:30pm. :)
